The Mega Dimension expansion for Pokémon Legends: Z-A introduces fresh story content and, more importantly for many players, a selection of additional Mega Evolutions. Some of these unfold naturally through the narrative, while others require players to step off the main route and track them down manually.
One of the earliest special Megas you can unlock in the DLC belongs to Absol. Once you gain access to Mega Dimension, you can begin working toward this new form immediately.
You will encounter the item tied to Absol’s upgraded Mega Evolution relatively early in the DLC.
After starting the Mega Dimension storyline, you will begin to notice Hyperspace portals appearing around Lumiose City. Before you are able to interact with them freely, the game asks you to progress through a handful of introductory objectives to learn how Hyperspace works. During this introductory phase, you’ll meet Corbeau, who helps set the investigation into motion.
Advancing the story eventually leads to a battle sequence and then unlocks the DLC’s central progression loop. One of the first assignments directs you to the “Hyperspace Rogue Mega Arena.” This location is where Absol’s new Mega Stone can be claimed.
Look toward the northern district of Lumiose City — the arena tied to Absol is marked by a yellow Hyperspace portal, which differentiates it from standard green ones. Enter the portal, interact with the Absol waiting inside, and you will trigger a battle encounter.
Winning this fight rewards you with the Mega Absolite associated with the new form, enabling Absol to access its exclusive DLC Mega Evolution.
Absol’s new Mega form carries the “Z” designation, and it plays slightly differently from standard Megas.
This version of Mega Absol:
This means the Z-variant is designed to be explosive but temporary — strong when managed well, but requiring more awareness to use effectively.
This makes Absol one of the earliest DLC-exclusive Megas you can experiment with, giving players a hands-on introduction to how the Mega Dimension’s new evolution mechanics behave in combat.
